How to Obtain API Credentials?

Enable API Key Authentication:

  1. Log in to Tenable Security Center via the user interface.
  2. In the left navigation, click System > Configuration.
    – The Configuration page appears.
  3. Click the Security tile.
    – The Security Configuration page appears.
  4. In the Authentication Settings section, click Allow API Keys to enable the toggle.
  5. Click Submit.
    – Tenable Security Center saves your configuration.
To Generate API Keys:

  1. Click Users > Users.
    – The Users page appears.
  2. Right-click the row for the user for whom you want to generate an API key.
    – The actions menu appears.
    -or-
    – Select the check box for the user for whom you want to generate an API key.
    • The available actions appear at the top of the table.
  3. Click API Keys > Generate API Key.
    – A confirmation window appears.
  4. Click Generate.
    – The Your API Key window appears, displaying the access key and secret key for the user.
  5. Save the API keys in a safe location.
Configuration Parameters

The following configurations are required to forward Tenable Security Center logs to DNIF:

  • Click Save after entering all the required details and click Test Connection to verify the configuration.
  • A Connection successful message will be displayed along with the timestamp.
